BAKER TWO-RUN HOMER SINKS GIANTS AND THEIR WILD CARD HOPES ARE NOW BECOMING A FOOTNOTE AND ON TOTAL LIFESUPPORT SYSTEM

BASEBALL MULTIMEDIA FOR FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 25, 2009
BRIAN “Professer B Davis” STAFF WRITER On Thursday night at AT&T Park the San Francisco Giants who entered the top half of the ninth inning leading 2-1 against the Chicago Cubs. Cubs first-baseman Derek Lee was on second with two-outs when Giants closer Brian Wilson had Cubs hitter Jeff Baker hit a 2-2 pitch into the fog and into the bleachers as the Cubs defeat the San Francisco Giants by a score of 3-2. Giants stater Brad Penny pitched great by going 8.0 innings giving up one run on seven hits with four strikeouts would at best settle for a no decision. As for the Giants offense outfielder John Bowker accounted for the only Giants with a RBI double and a solo homer off Cubs starter Ryan Demspster in the bottom half of the seventh inning.

With the loss the Giants remain 4.0 games behind the Colorado Rockies with only nine games to play and in fact the Giants are now in third place in the National League Wild Card standings and the red hot Atlanta Braves are in second place in the trailing the Rockies by only 3.5 games with only 10 games to play. But me has the Professer have a hunch that the Braves could over take the Rockies from the rug and still the National League wild card because the Braves will play the Washington Nationals seven of their last 10 games including this weekend and the final weekend of the baseball regular season. The Rockies will be playing the St. Louis Cardinals in which by the way can clinch the N.L. Central tonight with a win or a Cubs loss to the Giants this evening and the Redbirds will still be playing for the right for home field advantage for the National League Playoffs as well for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies.
So keep tunned for all the baseball races the hunt for October is just around the corner on the Baseball Multimedia Network.
